aura graduated with a B-Arch Bachelor of Architecture from Universidad Piloto de Colombia in Bogota. Later on she moved to Chicago where she joined Archeworks and under the supervision of Architects Stanley Tigerman and Doug Garofalo, Laura was part of a multi-disciplinary design team proposing a range of socially responsible design projects where she designed and developed cost effective furniture solutions for SRO ( Single Room Occupancy) units.
Laura graduated with a MArch-Master of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Before founding OCBA with her husband and partner Tom Kolbasenko, Laura worked in South America, the United States and Canada in several architectural firms and large organizations. Her experience includes urban design as well as a broad range of architectural work both in the public and private sector. Laura is a designer at heart with a very Miesian modern influence that shows through her work. She is a multi-tasker by nature. If you don't see her around the office, she is probably running around in her main role as a "dance/hockey/BMX mom" of three energetic children. Her interest expand into areas of interior design and anything related with typography or graphic arts.
